Bill: Budget proposal of November 2953
Details
Submitted by[?]: Paleofederalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2954
Description[?]:
The Paleofederalist Party propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Federal Republic of Darnussia. The changes in this bill are very slight: The Paleofederalist Party currently wishes to have federal government spending at approximately 5% of GDP. We further urge the provinces to limit their spending to 10-15% of their GDP's. We have increased spending in the area of Justice so that more federal justice professionals may be employed. We also strive to make the funds available for the justice minister in the event he wishes to upgrade the federal prison system. Increases have also been made to Infrastructure and Transport to allow for repairs and upgrades to federal highways and bridges. Environment and tourism has been cut to allow for more provincial jurisdiction in this area. With the consent of the Minister, we would like to cease all spending to this ministry. |

Message | Our defence spending is already moderate. The department is large enough to employ both reserve and regular force units, maintain our equipment, take care of our veterans, and participate in theatres of operation. Spending for defence is good at this time. Science is not a responsibility of the government and should not be supported by hard working taxpayers. Health and Social Services should be paid for mostly by the provinces. While some components of Health and Social Services are neccessary as public goods, intrusion by the federal government will only make them less effective. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
