Details

Submitted by[?]: Libertarian Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2140

Description[?]:

This bill is designed to free trade within Hutori and allow our businesses to prosper. If the right atmosphere is created business will thrive, if business thrives the citizenry will prosper. It is also designed to ensure that all citizens are aware that the state is not here to support the individual, if you cannot support you and your family we will not. We therefore propose :-

1. The abolition of corportation tax.
2. Income tax will be set at a flat level of 20% with a commitment to totally abolish it as soon as is practical.
3. The abolition of all welfare support, excepting that those who have paid into the national health service will get what they have already paid, as a credit towards a private health insurance scheme.
4. Import duties to be set at 3% for all imported goods. It is envisaged that eventually when income tax is abolished this will be sufficient to support such government services deemed essential.

MessageWelfare is a safty net that ensures that when bad times hit, a family will be able to support its self in its times of needs. Welfare is absolutly vital to the people to ensure there own safty, so long as they dont abuse it.

Taxes are needed to pay for the cost of living. Most taxes are placed on the workers as of right now, however the aim should be to tax the companies and corporations which make up to ten times as much as a worker. If taxes are totally eliminated then a high graduated income tax would be required to pay for things. Instead of a small income tax now, people would have to pay well over 75% of there income to make the balance.

Regulations are implaced to ensure that corporations dont just decide the fate of the people without concidering the underlying issue...they are people. Workers right are needed and should be imporved upon, regulations on the enviroment are needed to proctect are world and are nation. Without these the Corporations would own the government, the people, and the means to kill us all.

I would vote no on this bill.

MessageHowever these corporations are staffed by people. An enlightened business in this day and age is one that cares for and looks after it's most expensive resource; it's workers. If any corporation wishes to make a long term profit, which has been proven many times to be the way to make the largest profit, it must look after it's workforce. The idea that corporations are inherantly bad is erroneous. It has been proven many times over that succesful companies have to look after their workforce, as the workforce makes up 70% of the costs of a modern business, and the cost of continual re-training that a company with poor worker relations has to undergo is a severe drain on resources. What is more succesful corporation know this.

Again it has been proven in countries that have allowed for deregulation to occur that if you decrease the bureaucracy and tax (or government theft), a company has to endure you increase it's profit. If you increase the profit, you increase the size of the company and the amount of people employed. This is the original win win situation.

The Welfare state is an unbalanced unfair situation that only encourages sloth and lazyness. A forward looking individual should look after themselves and their family. If they are unsure of their future take out anti unemployment insurance. If they are not financially secure enough to pay medical bills again take out insurance or seek an employer who will pay it for you. Why should the people who have the foresight to plan for these situations, and are willing to work to look after their families have their hard earned money stolen from them by government to pay for the lazy, and the stupid? Such should not be the role of a modern minimalist government.

MessageMy question now is, what about those that use welfare only when the any source of recurrent income is not sustainable? Should we just throw them out in the street? Maybe someone will help them, but i doubt they would, thats why regulations are implaced. Corporations have a bad habbit of letting profits in the way of progress.

MessageProfit is progress! Profit brings in more employment for to keep the shareholders happy and the dividends coming in a corporation must expand, therbye increasing their own wealth, the wealth of those they employ and hence the nation that those peolpe form.

As to those that are too lazy or too shortsighted to look to their future and plan accordingly they should go the same way as the Dodo. If a charity wishes to look after them then good for them. If not I am sure we can find a company that can cheaply dispose of the carcasses once they have ceased being a burden on the workers.

MessageThe Intelligent People, as new as it is, does support this proposal for it is unfair in terms of Welfare and Healthcare.
