MessageMr Speaker, as the only party that truly believes in parliamentary and national sovereignty, we are delighted to show our consistency by voting for this withdrawal. Mr Speaker, even though we agree with every single article laid down in that treaty - every single one - we do not feel that parliament should be bound by an international agency. I look forward to seeing the NSC display similar maturity and vote to withdraw from the LLIT.

MessageRt Hon Baron Mancini MP, NSC Leader,

Mr Speaker, we thank the CLP for this bold step in the right direction. This abhorrent Treaty has tied our states hands on the issue of religion. Religion is the dominant issue in Hutori and there are huge sections of the population wishing to return to the NSC policy on religion and the SPU and Labour would have this decision and religous stance left out of the people of this nations hands! It is a complete undermining of our democratic system and Labour and the SPU would do well to note that the NSC fully intend to abolish religion in Hutori yet again.

MessageMr Speaker, if the NSC believe that this treaty "is a complete undermining of our democratic system", why will they not vote to withdraw from the LLIT? Where is the consistency? Either they believe in parliamentary sovereignty or they don't. Mr Speaker, religion is not the only important issue in this country - the role of government and the responsibilities it should take is equally as important. Mr Speaker, why then is it right that parliament's hands should be tied on that issue?

MessageMr Speaker, we have already outlined why we will not vote to repeal the LLIT. We are founding members of that organisation and we can only abstain.

MessageMr Speaker, it would be interesting to hear how the NSC can reconcile that position with their apparent fervent conversion to the concept of parliamentary sovereignty. Mr Speaker, can the NSC not see how the two positions cannot be reconciled?
