Bill: Employment of Minors Act of 2972
Details
Submitted by[?]: Subsidiarity Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2973
Description[?]:
ARTICLE I - The Commonwealth currently forbids anybody under the legal age of adulthood to work. This not only prevents young citizens from working at part-time or menial jobs, but prevents the youth of the nation from learning the important lessons of fiscal responsibility, work ethic, and the basics of employment. The Commonwealth, however, has no intention of allowing employment to interfere with the education of Rutanian minors, and so leaves this matter to the Provinces, to work out the limitations and regulations of the employment of minors in close cooperation with the employers, schools and parents of the minor laborers. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning child labour.
Old value:: Child labour is forbidden.
Current: Child labour is forbidden.
Proposed: Child labour is regulated by local governments.

Message | Child labor is a well known avenue for abuse. It is also a convenient tool for driving down already too low wages. The RSWP opposes this legislation. |
Date | 16:28:43, July 21, 2010 CET | From | Rutanian Restoration Party | To | Debating the Employment of Minors Act of 2972 |
Message | The OP would like to point out to the RSWP that this legislation does not explicitly support child labour, and that devolving this question to more representative provincial government allows the true views, and morals of the people to come through. The OP supports this measure. |
Date | 20:40:35, July 21, 2010 CET | From | Rutanian Syndicalist Worker's Party | To | Debating the Employment of Minors Act of 2972 |
Message | If by "true views, and morals of the people", the OP is refering to insular communities and local prejudicies, lower paid and more easily bribed officials, and community plutocrats, then the RSWP assents the OP's point. |
