Message | This bill will save the taxpayers some money. It will allow the market to naturally supply the type of media (perhaps educational) demanded. It will also reduce government interference in the lives of our people. What could you possibly have against this bill? |

Message | Profit motives for news and educational stations that would be interfered by advertising and a craving for profit rather than the purposes it sets out to provide. Save the taxpayers money? The rich saving a fraction of a fraction of their taxes on a useful and helpful tool that is a benefit for all Darnussians, rather than the profit driven Plutocracy you right-wingers wish to provide. It will also reduce government interference in the lives of our people. By subsiding a radio station for informational and educational purposes for the benefit of the people, that somehow constitutes an evil Bolshevist, Stalinist state? In no way does having this station make the government "interfere" in our lives. People pay taxes for things like this: things that serve the public for the common good, not profit. Greed, greed and greed. That's all that drives you people. |

Message | OOC: "Profit motives for news and educational stations that would be interfered by advertising and a craving for profit rather than the purposes it sets out to provide." Nature Magazine, Discovery channel, Science, etc. These are profit publications, however they do not slur facts for profit because when people want to be informed they want the truth. They don't want to pay to be lied to. "Save the taxpayers money? The rich saving a fraction of a fraction of their taxes on a useful and helpful tool that is a benefit for all Darnussians, rather than the profit driven Plutocracy you right-wingers wish to provide." We have a sales tax, the poor need to buy food it'll affect them as well. "It will also reduce government interference in the lives of our people. By subsiding a radio station for informational and educational purposes for the benefit of the people, that somehow constitutes an evil Bolshevist, Stalinist state? In no way does having this station make the government "interfere" in our lives." No, but it doesn't guarantee truth. It's hard to publicly denounce a government which signs your cheque. "People pay taxes for things like this: things that serve the public for the common good, not profit." But it isn't necessarily for the common good at all. it presumes that people will have guaranteed access to it and that it will provide the truth. "Greed, greed and greed. That's all that drives you people." We're not the one making profit. Stop strawmaning or go home. |
