Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Syndicalist Worker's Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2991
Description[?]:
It is the position of the RSWP that "Intellectual Property" is an oxymoron. Ideas are neither produced nor consumed. Instead they are discovered and shared, and they benefit society best when restrictions on said discovery and sharing are reduced or removed entirely. The current system in Rutania rewards Monopolists and prevents innovators and thinkers from contributing to society to the fullest of their potential. This bill will correct this situation. Article I. A Repeal of all Copyright Privileges to allow free printing and reproduction of intellectual goods for the benefit of the Commonwealth. Article II. A Repeal of all Patents as applied to Software, Algorithms and Techniques, to allow for more rapid innovation in Commonwealth Technology. |

Message | We just supported the move for copyright, and are not looking to change our position at the moment. The OP believes innovation should be rewarded, and encouraged. If someone wishes to not copyright their work, then so be it. But those who do want to should feel free to take advantage of our current system. |
