Message | In an ideal world maybe, but what would happen if were attacked and this legislation passed and so couldn't defend ourselves? What would the Defence Secretary (Mr. Seymour) see his strategy be then? Beatrice Smith Shadow Defence Secretary |

Message | This bill is completely reckless. You leave us at the whim of any and all. |
Date | 17:21:56, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Coalition for National Unity [CNU] | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | "This Act puts a monopoly of legitimate violence in the hands of the State. It prevents us from having private corporations organise and administer our armed forces. The opposition are attempting to scaremonger and it simply is wrong of them. Nowhere in this Act is Solentia disarmed. Solentia shall continue to be a bastion of scientific development, keeping employment high. We have opted to deny ourselves the use of Nuclear, Biological and Chemical weapons due to their cruel and inhumane nature. Solentia is still armed, we still have a highly technological military that is well equipped and prepared to deal with the Defence of the Realm. Local authorities are granted the freeom they need to make provision for civil defence in the (rather unlikely) event of invasion. Frankly, I can't image who we would possible be in a war with, but if we were to enter one, this Act would leave us enough scope to adequately defend ourselves." Lord Seymour, Defence Secretary. |
Date | 18:14:42, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Sue's Corner | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | How? If the opposition had nucleur weapons and we did not, how exactly would we be able to 'adequately defend ourselves' as you put it Mr. Seymour? Beatrice Smith Shadow Defence Secretary |
Date | 18:19:43, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Conservative Party of Solentia | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | "Cruel and inhumane, Seymour? Ask a man shot in the belly and left to die for hours whether or not his death was cruel and inhumane. War is brutal. When the time comes, and an aggressor's boot is on our throat, we must make sure that every option for our defence is available, because they will surely make every option for our elimination available to themselves. That this will likely pass with the Nuncirist's abstention is tragic and the defense of the State shall be the SSCP's first objective upon our reinstatement. Clearly the Unionists, Independents, and Social Democrats have no idea what it takes to survive on Terra." State Control Combat Wing Commander Avery Johnston |
Date | 19:38:19, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Coalition for National Unity [CNU] | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | "Again, who exactly do you think we're going to be at war with? Solentia hasn't been at war with another nation for over 500 years and as long as we are in the Foreign Office, we shant be at any point in the near future. Legislating to ensure that we are a leader globally on peace, diplomacy and cooperation will ensure that other nations respect Solentia and her role. What is takes to survive on Terra, Mr. Johnston, is stability, mutual respect and an olive-branch, not gun and WMDs." Lord Seymour, Defence Secretary. |
Date | 19:56:34, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Conservative Party of Solentia | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | "Ah, so now you'd ban guns as well?" Avery Johnston OOC: :) |
Date | 19:59:06, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Coalition for National Unity [CNU] | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | "Of course not. Nor however, do I find them especially helpful in solidifying Solentia's place as a respected neutral nation." Lord Seymour, Defence Secretary. |
Date | 22:36:24, August 27, 2010 CET | From | Sue's Corner | To | Debating the Global Cooperation Act 2990 |
Message | Rubbish. So we don't go to war whilst you are in the Foreign office won't we Mr. Seymour? So what if someone invades us? What if someone tries to overthrow our government? Should we assist them Mr. Seymour, or should we pass more legislation to limit our defences further? Beatrice Smith Shadow Defence Secretary |
