Message | ooc: I am completely torn on this. The PPP is trying to be Big Govt, at the moment, so I should support... on the other hand I think the current economic problems are caused by the errors of central banks and the finance industry they protect / enable. Personally I have never had much faith in paper currency, which seems to always go down in value. |

Message | ooc: banks with bad policies should fail. The more government helps out failing businesses, the more they will fail. You can't reward bad behavior and expect progress. Subsidizing failure is a failing policy. |

Message | OOC: I agree, sensible and relevent businesses succeed. If they fail, it is because of a flaw with the business. Since banks are just another form of business, I would be inclined to let the weak ones fail. |

Message | ooc: the worst of it is that some of the biggest finance companies have learned how to take advantage of all this government intervention. Some call it "regulatory capture", and it explains why increased regulations (often written by these big companies) are no way to respond to bailouts. The soviets failed for a reason. The merger of delta and united (two terrible airlines, both of whom received post 9/11 bailout $) shows how government intervention leads to a monopoly of inefficiency. |
