Bill: Act on the Punishment of Global Criminals
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2140
Description[?]:
These criminals are a threat to all the world, and have committed crimes to the point that rehabilitation is about impossible. Leaving them in prison gives the threat of escape or maybe even bail at times, and that simply should not be risked. I am not an advocate of "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" in all respects, but passing this Bill would be more along the lines of "an eye for a thousand eyes"- and that is the least we can do for justice. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy with respect to the death penalty.
Old value:: The death penalty is illegal and is never to be applied.
Current: The death penalty is illegal and is never to be applied.
Proposed: The death penalty is not applied, except for terrorism, treason and crimes against mankind.

Message | This is a dangerous assault on civil liberies, miscarriages of justice are known to happen |

Message | I realize miscarriages of justice are known to happen... However, we pour enough money into the justice department that I think investigations would be done adequatly. And the crimes that would allow for the death penalty aren't crimes that are exactly easy to frame someone for... The true question we must ask is this though: A slight bump down in the amount of civil liberties or the possibility of a large national threat not being held at bay? Both have slight chances of happening; but both are possible. What would you rather have - one man die due to a mis-investigation or thousands die due to a man not being punished adequatly after previous crimes? |

Message | We oppose this change as its gives the power to mass murder any group of indiviuals that could be seen as a threat to our Nation and hence could easily be abused. If we start ordering firing squads to kill those who commit crimes then we become as guilty as them of murder. Also it is easy to frame people for crimes like these as usually the trials are biased. We have prisons that can be used for life sentences, no need to execute. |

Message | Being seen as A threat to the country isn't treason or terrorism, or a crime against mandkind for that matter. Beeing seen as A threat to a country is no reason under this bill to execute something. However, once someone has already PROVED (and this would be the criminal proving it) - they are a large threat to this country - then there is no reason for them to be alive. |

Message | Giving the death penalty to bring justice is playing God as much as throwing the man in a prison all their life and taking away their sanity and right to pursue happiness. |

Random quote: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson |
