Message | The total membership should vote on strike action or not, and if the total membership does not vote then a majority of the total membership should need to approve such action in order to maintain credibility in the Union movement. To change that reduces said credibility and slowly toward the destruction of the Unions and, ultimately, the benefits they provide. |

Message | Very sound argument. If it were not for the fact that if strikes have to be approved by a total majority the trade unions will never provide any benefits. Should we use the same standard in politics? In the last election 25% of the voting population decided to abstain from vote. Should their (non)vote count towards the formation of the legislature? Should 25% of the congressmen be anti-government anarchists? Of course not, because the most likely explanation is that they were to lazy or to uninterested to vote. |
