Description[?]:
This may seem to be a rather peculiar piece of legislation, but there exists reasoning behind it. While education shall continue to be mandatory, our party does not believe that the government should prevent children from earning money outside of their scholarly obligations. Regulations will still exist to prevent the exploitation of these laws of course, but it should not be illegal for children to contribute to the support of their families in all cases. It is because of this that we suggest children should not be denied the right to work, so long as it does not interfere with compulsory schooling or entail abuse by parents or bosses. Should a 16-year old not be allowed a summer job to help pay for a car they are saving up to purchase? |

Message | Sending children to work damages their education, the children who work are usually children from lower class backgrounds , the NPA are opposed to this. As an alternative we propose that the mean supplements for lower class families be increased so parents do not have to send their children to work in order to pay the bills. Once this is done then we would support such a measure as it would then be an actual choice of the child rather than an economic obligation. |
