Message | Mr Speaker, The Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem is a part of the Empire and has been so for thousands of years. Like all other overseas territories, it mostly self rules however. There was a rebellion by a small group of traitors backed by foreign powers some two hundred years ago. Before this rebellion, the Treaty of Yishelem governed the relationship between the Imperial Homeland (Luthori) and the Commonwealth. However, after the rebellion and to make it impossible for such a rebellion to ever occur again, said treaty was replace by the Treaty of Poesy, which is much better. The government calls on the unanimous support of the Diet for this simple administrative matter. Voting with the government will be seen as a gesture of good will and will reflect most favourably on the Union for Social Change during the next Un-Luthorian Activities Committee hearings and when the time comes to consider new coalition partners. I yield. |

Message | With all due respect to the members of the Holy Imperial Diet and the Constitutional Imperial League, it is not completely accurate to say the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem is "a part of the Empire." We are in free association with the Holy Luthori Empire, the Axis Alliance, and the Commonwealth Nations of Terra Alliance. His Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty Emperor Reinhard is also the King of Beiteynu and Yishelem, but, in the words of the Treaties of Poesy, "William of Rothingren and all His legal descendants, or whoever is deemed to be the rightful Emperor of Luthori, shall be Kings of Yishelem and Beiteynu and the de jure heads of state of Yishelem and Beiteynu. The King shall be represented in the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu by a government official officially known as the 'Governor-General and Executor of Head of State of the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu'....the governor-general shall act as head of state for [the] King...except in whatever matters in which the King deems to be of importance enough that he shall execute his powers as de jure Head of State of the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu." Therefore, while we thank the members of the Union for Social Change for their concern, may it be shown to them that the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem's relationship with the Holy Luthori Empire does not constitute "imperialism," and is quite mutual, as well as mutually amicable and beneficial. Thank you for your attention. Respectfully, Josephus Karmiel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem |
