Message | Speaker, Article one: If the government is the one that puts prisoners in prison, then do they not have the responsibility to ensure they will not end up in prison again? Is not the government saying, "We will put you in prison, to ensure you do not reoffend." However, they do nothing to ensure this. With education comes freedom, and freedom means having the ability to choose to do what is right. Article two: Slavery is always wrong. No other argument is necessary. Article three: Only God can choose when to take a life. The state should not have the power to kill. Article four: This should not be a dictatorship where the military rules, but a place where the people rule! |

Message | Mr Speaker, The Luthorian criminal justice system is in no way based on rehabilitation. It is purely based on compensation. Most if not all non-violent crimes are punishable by a fine. If the criminal cannot pay, he is required to work in forced labour until he can repay it. That covers articles 1 and 2. Secondly, the Vicar of Christ and thus most direct representative of God on Terra, His Majesty the Emperor, has sanctioned the death penalty, thus the argument that men cannot execute others is null and void. Lastly, the military has many important duties relating to law enforcement because of its size and funding. There is no relation between dictatorship and the use of the military for policing duties. Our country is an aristocratic monarchy, not a dictatorship and there are no provisions that prevent the military of policing. I yield. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
