Bill: Freedom of Thought and Action Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom and Revolution Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3061
Description[?]:
The nature of religion makes it a difficult topic of discussion. It is an emotionally charged topic that often leads to violence and anger. It can tear apart friends and families, put nation against nation, and allow for corrupt individuals to exploit this emotional charge for personal gain. Worst of all, it is unprovable, and anyone who says otherwise is a fool or a liar. Even within certain faiths, there is wide discrepancy between beliefs - stated or otherwise, silenced by the threat of violence or shunning - creating often irreconcilable differences between religious doctrine, dogma, and code. While we at the FRP have nothing but utter contempt and disdain for all forms of religion, we understand that this view is in the minority, and to force an explicitly ANTI-religious agenda upon Luthori would be just as evil as those who wish to enforce a religious agenda. Therefore, since all humans are different, and are bound to believe different things, and should not be forced to support that which which they do not agree, we propose this bill in order to provide some freedom to the Luthori people, be they devout, borderline, or otherwise. |

Message | Mr Speaker, We find all articles acceptable and we throw are support behind this bill. I yield. OOC: If it appears the party is moderating on some issues thats because it is. I thought having 2 hard right wing parties was a bit much so ill leave that to the CIL. |

Message | Mr Speaker, While articles 1 and 3 are potentially acceptable in the context of a compromise, article 2 is not. I yield. |

Message | Speaker, We entirely throw our support behind this bill. The vast majority of our members are religious and have beliefs, but we also recognize that we can not force these on others. We respect the FRP for not forcing their own views on others, and urge that this be moved to a vote. I yield. |

Message | Mr Speaker, We would like to inform all parties that the current law contains an exception which states that schools may legally decline to conduct prayers if they register with the government as a specifically secular school. It is our firm belief that this clause makes the current law constitutional and should satisfy any seculars as religion in the norm in Luthori and secularism the peculiarity. I yield. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The FRP is not satisfied with the "exception," as the forced registration is still a form of discrimination. Furthermore, if there is such a stipulation, then it is clear that secular schools are indeed perfectly acceptable in the eyes of the Diet. In this case, there would be no practical change with the passage of Article Two of this bill except in the -reduction- of bureaucracy, something I would imagine the CIL would be quite happy about. I yield. |

Message | Mr Speaker, Secular schools are the exception not the rule and we wish them to remain that way, government promotion of religion as one of the best ways to preserve and maintain the social order. We ask the FRP to please contact us with the details of a proposed compromise if it wishes our support on this issue. I yield. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, It is clear that the CIL are filled with liars when they call for "limited government," preferring instead to control and suppress the Luthori people through the force of gun and sting of forked tongue. We will not be driven to be forced to compromise PRINCIPLE, which is the only compromise the CIL has ever deemed acceptable, if past experience is anything to go off of, and will stand our ground against the hoards of religious tyranny. I yield. |
