Message | Rt Hon Viscount Holding MP, NSC Leader, Mr Deputy Speaker, this Act is a complete undermining of the great Hutorian education system. Even the idea of Article 1 especially sickens us. The idea that the state should fund private schools makes a mockery of the education system. Mr Deputy Speaker, the notion that education can be bought is obviously one shared by the Liberals. Education cannot be bought or sold on the free market. The education system should be a level playing field for the smartest Hutorians to shine through. It should be a social meritocracy and this Bill will comprimise the notion of hard work for yourself and the simple fact is that we are now seeing the true motives behind these Imperialist Parties and the Liberals. They seek to install a new Hutorian elite. Hereditary money of the CLP and Imperialist Party will see their members become the Hutorian ruling class and that is something that the Liberals should join the NSC and Ultranationalists in making Hutori a fair society for all within it. Not the CLP and ID's idea of an unequal society with them at the top! |

Message | Rt Hon Rupert Finchley MP, Liberal Party spokesperson for Education Mr Deputy Speaker, the current education system has failed the people of Hutori. There is talk of a 'lost generation', perfectly bright pupils who have been failed by this relic of socialism. Even under a state controlled system, stratification has reared its head. The richest parents need only buy a house in a good catchment area to guarantee their children's future, whereas the poorest are trapped in a culture of failure. Mr Deputy Speaker, this legislation will force our failing to schools to get their act together. If rival schools are set up in inner city areas, they can compete with those that already exist for local students. This, as has been proven in every other privatisation, will drive up standards and ensure that the taxpayer gets value for money. We are offering all parents the choice of where they want to send their children. Meanwhile, legalisation of private schools will reduce the pressure on our state system, and also help address inequality through scholarships. Mr Deputy Speaker, the Liberal Party wants everyone to succeed. Clearly the socialists are happy for everyone to fail, as long as everyone fails together! I yield. |

Message | Rt Hon Viscount Holding MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Deputy Speaker, do we not want the brighest pupils to shine through in our schools system? That is why there is a level playing field for all pupils - so those who are most able shine through! The idea that introducing private schools is a step forward is wrong. There will be large exclusive private schools that charge fees so high that no working class Hutorian will have any chance of attending. Mr Deputy Speaker, the education system is not a business and tutiton is not something that can be sold on the free market. The sooner these parties realise this - the better! |

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself. |
