Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Shatter Reform Bill - Removal of Unjust Restraint (viii)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2142

Description[?]:

As part of our ongoing policy of reclaiming Likatonian Sovereignty:

The Anarch Anakrousite Shatter believes that the Likatonian Senate has been hasty. We have allowed ourselves to be deprived of sovereign Rights to self-govern - and bound ourselves to policies imposed by deskpilots in foreign powers.

The Anarch Anakrousite Shatter believes we should continue divesting ourselves of some of the excessively controlling Treaties that we have impetuously chained ourselves to.

"After all, if the Likatonian people WANT a curfew, it SHOULD be their right to demand one. If they DON'T want a curfew, the responsibility should STILL lie at the feet of the people, and our democratic system".

"We believe that we MUST remove ALL constricting Treaties - because the people MUST have the right to express their opinions, and MUST have the right to democratically decide their nation's sovereign future... If our people do NOT have the right to free speech when the material is unpalatable, then we can NOT claim that we TRULY have 'free' speech, at all".

Note: As mentioned before, but still sometimes forgotten - the aim of these Bills is NOT to change the law of the land... only to change the policy of tying Likatonia to imported policies.

Voting to extract Likatonia from a Treaty, in no way obliges one to vote for (or against) legislation detailed in that Treaty.

MessagePlease allow the AAS to re-iterate.

Signing to a Treaty does not change Likatonian Law.

It ONLY allows us to attempt to direct the course of law ourselves, IF we wish to.

Thus - voting 'yes' on this issue, does NOT mean you are anti-gay... just that you are PRO-democratic-expression.

MessageGay rights are vital to human rights. Voting yes on this issue means you are rejecting the argument that their importance trumps national sovereignty. I believe that gay rights are more important than our national sovereignty, and this treaty protects them by giving anti-gay campaigners another obstacle to move through before they can restrict this vital right.

MessageResponse to the PCP: The PCP is now claiming that to vote 'yes' is the same as being 'anti-gay'?

We understand that the PCP is 'pro-Treaty' (for some unintelligible reason), but: to imply that anyone who believes a nation's LAW should be sovereign, is equal to promoting active homophobia... is low, innaccurate, and an appeal to the politics of fear.

We expected better from our associates in the PCP.

Feel free to express your democratic rights to object... even as you REFUSE the rights of others to exercise THEIR democratic rights.

Random fact: RP laws follow the same passing rules as in-game variable laws. Laws that are not of a constitutional nature require a simple majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. Laws that are of a constitutional nature require a 2/3 majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. RP laws may be abolished a simple majority vote this applies to ANY RP law.
