Bill: Privatisation of the EIHS
Details
Submitted by[?]: Society of Sadists
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2142
Description[?]:
My party calls for the privatisation of the Endralonian Imperial Health Service. We wish all hospitals to be independent trusts, free to hire their own staff in the free market. Poor people will have their care funded by the government, awarded to hospitals which are contractually obliged to accept it. We wish to untie the bonds of governmental interference and let our health service thrive unhindered. Flame away! |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Health care policy.
Old value:: There is a public health care system, but private clinics are allowed.
Current: Health care is private, but the government subsidises the cost of it for all citizens.
Proposed: Health care is private, but is paid for by the state for people with low incomes.

Message | OOC: in real life I favour this solution for the NHS in Britain (the world's 4th largest employer in the world after the Indian Railways, the People's Liberation Army in China and the Russian Armed Forces) but with the following difference. The hospitals are privately owned and run, but the payment system is still run by the government and people have free healthcare at the point of use. Re-organisation in other words. Rich people would be free to use the NHS if they wanted to, they certainly pay for it in taxes. But the proposal choices offered in-game weren't as comprehensive. |

Message | I made this a separate vote as it is such a key issue. Don't expect it to pass, but you never know.... |
