Bill: Religious Reform Act of 3068

Details

Submitted by[?]: Christian Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3069

Description[?]:

This bill attempts to reorganize some views regarding religion.

OOC: Article 2 is more to fit into the theme of Monarchy. I mean the title for the Head of State has protector of the faith, yet any form of religion is banned, which makes no sense given the title.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I agree with all of the proposals. However, we urge that the official state religion be called the Christian Church of Aloria.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We support article 1, but not article 2. We would vote against this bill as a result.

MessageMr. Speaker,

It is tradition for the monarch to lead the state church and for a monarchy to have a state church. This bill still allows for total religious freedom. The Christian Church of Aloria would also be completely funded by its patrons. This bill is simply giving it special recognition.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Our party supports civil liberites such as freedom of religion, and see no reason why the state should promote a religion, and do not see why the Christian Church of Aloria should be treated any differently than other religions in Aloria.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

My party also supports the freedom of religion. The state would simply give the Christian Church of Aloria special recognition due to it being the main church of a large majority of the population and due to the fact that it is representative of the monarchy and Alorian culture.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The state favouring any religion in any way would make it uncomfortable for religious minorities. If christianity is the most popular religion why does it need to be confirmed as such?

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

No one is forced to join the Christian Church of Aloria, thus religious freedom is still valid. The state would not give the Christian Church of Aloria favor, rather make it a cultural institution. Denying this cultural institution of recognition would be like saying recognizing the Alorian national flag makes ethnic minorities uncomfortable. Either we promote Alorian culture or we do not promote it.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This bill was crafted to fall more in line with the current structure of power within the government. We also feel that our laws already allow for a pretty loose concern on freedom of religion. With membership being voluntary, and not allowing religious symbol and garbs for public workers, the state sponsoring of the Christian Church of Aloria is nothing more than show and recognition of our past.

I yield.

To show that the CMP's wild accusations are incorrect, like most of the things that pours out of that gentleman's club, we shall propose a freedom of religion bill.
