MessageMr. Speaker,

We have no qualms with the first two Articles of this bill, however we do with Article 3. Allowing our police officers to carry around military-grade weaponry would require more sophisticated training and possibly background checks to ensure they are capable of using this weapons in a manner deemed necessary.

If the CMP wished to remove the article in question and put it to a vote by it self we would have no problem with it, however we are unsure about it and would have it dealt with separately as we wish to see the rest of the bill passed.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Considering the fact that the government has an oversight on all police organizations, that proposal ensures that the government regulates who is or is not fit to carry the military weaponry and ensures that they are well trained.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Military grade equipment would be used for any sort of raids on organized crime or when dealing with heavily armed criminals. We should be able to successfully defend the populace. This government is not some organization that is conspiring against the people.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We see no reason for all police to have access to these weapons. The points you raise concerning organized crime or heavily armed criminals can already be met by the specially trained forces already in place.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Based upon the overwhelming support for the removal of Article 3, it has been done.

I now move this bill for a vote.

I yield.
