Message | The CNT/AFL will support this bill. We are in favour of rehabilitation, and eliminating the causes of crime. |

Message | Terrorism, treason, and crimes against mankind are very difficult to convict someone of without that person actually being guilty. There is an almost nonexistent chance of a person accused of these crimes being convicted despite innocence. As such, the Council believes that the death penalty has no downside when applied to these crimes - which hardly ever come up in any case. There is no need to abolish the death penalty. |

Message | (BTW: This would be the second such proposal, an earlier one was defeated.) |

Message | Yes, the bill was defeated once before. The seat distribution now makes it possible to pass bills that were once impossible. There is no reason to keep the death penalty. It is better to err on the side of life. |
Date | 05:35:34, May 05, 2005 CET | From | Chorus of Amyst | To | Debating the Abolish the death penalty |
Message | The death penalty is a much harsher deterrent than life in prison, especially given the fact that many criminals walk free after serving barely any of their sentence. There is no reason to dismiss the death penalty for the few crimes toward which it is still applicable. |

Message | Put this to a vote, I'm sure we can pass it. |
Date | 10:35:27, May 07, 2005 CET | From | National People's Gang | To | Debating the Abolish the death penalty |
Message | There are, in fact, countless occasions in history when people have been convicted of terrorism, treason, and crimes against mankind, who were later exonerated. Birmingham Six Guidlford Four etc |
Date | 21:38:22, May 07, 2005 CET | From | MLTP (The Resistance) | To | Debating the Abolish the death penalty |
Message | But what about those who have committed crimes against humanity (Tito, Nazi Criminals, Serbian Criminals, etc)? Should those who have committed murder on a mass scale not be subject to the death penalty? |
Date | 21:52:36, May 07, 2005 CET | From | Cooperative Commonwealth Federation | To | Debating the Abolish the death penalty |
Message | To cite the old slogan: why shoudl we kill people who kill people to prove that killing people is wrong? (Marxist-Leninist-Trotskist eh? All we lack now is a run-of-the-mill conservative party!) |
Date | 03:19:44, May 08, 2005 CET | From | MLTP (The Resistance) | To | Debating the Abolish the death penalty |
Message | Its not even a question of killing them to make an example out of them. In the case of those who have committed crimes against humanity, there is no hope of rehabilitation. The alternative to death is sitting in a jail until they die of natural causes, which: A. Is perhaps a worse fate then death. B. Uses up federal money. |
