| Message | Mr Speaker, we support the status quo for the proposed legislation. I believe that our citizens need proof of indentity for all sorts of things - insurance, buying houses etc. A non compulsory identity card is the best way of ensuring we know who the people are. By changing the law we risk illegal aliens obtaining false identities that were previously unachievable with a state identity card. I believe the Liberals are once again making a mistake when they pass this Bill. |

Extra identity cards are pointless and a waste of money, since illegal immigrants could simply obtain fake identity cards in addition to fake passports. |
