Bill: The Capital Reinvestment Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3071

Description[?]:

A proposal to make good use of the current government surplus by returning it in the form of liquid capital to the Solentian economy.

Corporate entities are, of course, obligated by law and by reasonable societal expectations to pay their fair share of taxes. We believe that a continually fair rate exists at 35%, which will also serve to make Solentia's businesses more competitive in the global economy.

To us, this is an issue of making our country more competitive while simultaneously maintaining our fiscal stability.

We understand that the FHE Party has proposed legislation aiming to cut this very same tax rate....to an alarming 30%. This is unacceptable. If you wish to preserve the fiscal health and economic growth of the nation, vote for this, not for the FHE proposal. This is your alternative.

MessageThe game of the Social Democratic Party is unfair, inappropriate and naive: they want to propose a law already proposed by us, still in debate (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=311084). We urge all parties to boycott this provision, together to discuss and then vote for the one proposed by us.

Also: this is a typical liberal bill. How it can be proposed by a statalist, centralist and communist party as the Social Democratic Party? He can do just to get votes. Or for fear of losing.

MessageSuch strong words from the FHE, though I had expected such a response.

A sizable block of the Senate seems to have sided with us. If your proposal passes, so be it. If ours does, so be it. We proposed this as an alternative to your radical proposal. This is a much better proposal: an incremental step that will reinvest capital into our economy in a fiscally responsible way.

We are far from a communist or centralist party. The FHE would do well to remember that Solentia's citizens did not send us here to name-call, bicker or whine. They sent us here to make progress.

MessageWe are more in favor of the FHE bill and find it in somewhat poor taste to have too competing bill in chamber at the same time.

MessageYou can find it in poor taste as long as you like. But our job as senators isn't to do what is most palatable for us, it's to do what is best for the country, and we believe this is the best course of action to take.
