Bill: Income tax proposal of June 3074

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3075

Description[?]:

The Progressive Democratic Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria.

As I am about to lose my job I thought I may as well attempt some tax reforms before I go. This plan will improve the Alorian economy twofold:

First it is progressive, by not only creating a progressive income tax system but raising taxes on the wealthiest we will be able to raise government investment in public services boosting aggregate demand and therefore the economy.

Second it allows us to remove the regressive tax on non essential goods allowing many of the poorest Alorians to escape from poverty but also by removing the sales tax this will stimulate supply.

By taking both demand and supply side factors into consideration we are sure this will boost the Alorian economy.

Clare Fletcher - Finance Minister (probably former Finance Minister by the time you come to vote on this bill)

MessageMr. Speaker,

While we are not over fond of over taxing the citizens, as the current system works wonderfully. We do agree that goods essential to life shouldn't be taxed. As a way to determine how best to further reform our tax system we shall vote for this.

Hopefully after some new figures come out, we can better refine the system.

I yield.

If the current system is working wonderfully, why should we change it?

MessageMr. Speaker,

The current system works on a flat tax of 1% tax for everyone, however, all necessary goods are taxed. Perhaps after the numbers come out from our government accounts we can get a better grasp on how to fix the system.

I yield

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
