Bill: Better Public Services

Details

Submitted by[?]: Libertarian Left

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3077

Description[?]:

A central tenet of the Libertarian Left is that whilst private sector offers competition and provides often more efficient services, the State has a responsibility in providing essential services with the public's, rather than the shareholders', interests in mind.

Articles 1,3,4,6 and 9 relate to services which concern all the public and, in this party's view, are not being adequately provided for by the state.

Articles 2,5 and 8 relate to what this party feels is currently insufficient regulation on sectors which, whilst the private sector are uncertainly welcome to try and improve, are too important to leave unchecked.

Article 7 is an attempt to erase a government monopoly on a sector. By having the private and public sector services exist side by side, the consumers have more choice and the competition benefits the efficiency of both the private and public sectors.
