Message | *from the floor of the Senate* I have but a few brief remarks to make to you, my colleagues. Every second that we debate this bill, thousands of criminals are profiting from the current law, smuggling and peddling tobacco and cannabis throughout our cities. I won't stand by and watch as criminals get rich. Furthermore, I refuse to stand by and watch as doctors and patients are deprived of the legal right to use cannabis as a sedative or pain reliever. Citizens in pain deserve the right to use cannabis, if it helps them. I will not stand by and watch as they suffer. I would no sooner watch a person suffer from the effects of long-term tobacco use, but the choice must be theirs, not ours. The right of self-determination must be restored. End this prohibition on tobacco and medical cannabis. It's literally the most effective anti-crime bill we can pass, because this is our chance to bankrupt the dealers and cartels. Vote yes.
