The use of a phone service should be available to all so by subsidising the phone costs for low income families and by making sure the cost of calls doesn't become too high for the rest of society then we will guarantee good communication service for all.

MessageI don't think so. We won't subsidise the use of a non-essential service. We would happily regulate the maximum prices that can be charged, but we will not start paying the bills for services that people can live without.

MessageThere is no real need to subsidises phone services, the level of demand means that it is very unlikely that prices will be out of the reach of our poor citizens. The only way this could occur would be through price fixing which is a seperate matter.
