Message | The money is coming from our welfare system, hopefully. With luck, we won't even be funding one of those. Heck - this isn't as costly as subsidizing farms. THAT should be fought. Grr, that reminds me. I'm going to switch my vote back away from that. |

Message | Does anyone else here think welfare ought to be spent on poor folks instead of a tv station? and radio? |

Message | We haven't voted on any license fee..which means its coming out of general revenue....from income tax. This will affect the budget for your other social programs...like welfare or medicare or anything like that... |

Message | A tv station is a better investment. It can return some of the fees if it's managed like a company. Meanwhile welfare is just a handout, and I'm against the dole. It's harmful to the moral fibre of the people, encouraging laziness and dependence. |

Message | I think the liscence fee is altogether the best idea. if this is passed we can introduce a new bill saying that that is how we will fund it. |

Message | PP: There probably is, the problem is that governments aren't accountable enough to be efficient - so their business ventures become unprofitable. |

Message | but how would they decide which commercials to run? surely they wouldnt want to run any for opposition parties, but for themselves... state funded tv channels are a good idea, but that is one way to encourage any corruption of the system. |
Date | 00:06:58, May 06, 2005 CET | From | To | Debating the Government Channel Act |
Message | PP, there are state channels in France funded by commercials. |
Date | 02:18:30, May 06, 2005 CET | From | National Centrist Party | To | Debating the Government Channel Act |
Message | LPE: They'd run commercials from companies, most likely. Running commercials for/against political parties would violate the "political neutrality" clause. |
