Details

Submitted by[?]: Partij voor de Bevrijding van het Volk

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3114

Description[?]:

Recently the population of Vanuku has been rapidly decreasing.
In June 3091 the population was at 962,239,478 people.
In January 3092, the population had decreased to 956,949,070 people.
As of December 3094, the population figure was at 872,618,857 people.
As you can see from these figures, the population of Vanuku is decreasing at a fast pace. It also appears that the population of most other countries is decreasing as well. The PBV hereby calls for the government of Vanuku to release its position, plans and possible policy on the population decrease and its possible containment attempt.

The PBV would like to recognize that both large populations and smaller populations have advantages and disadvantages. The PBV asks hereby calls for the government to release its preference on population size and take into consideration the affects of a rapid decline in population.

MessageThe Government does not see a decreasing population in Vanuku as an issue of great concern. The current population makes us the 4th most densely populated nation within Terra. We currently face a situation where we have 1312 people per km2. By comparison, our neighbours at Zardugal have a density of 871 people within the same measurement.

We believe that decreases, just like increases, in population are a natural effect and we should refrain from 'playing God' by attempting to meddle with the natural progression of life.

Thus, our stance would be in opposition to the proposal from our colleagues at the PBV.

However, we ask that the PBV, should they wish to put this bill up for vote, go into further detail as to what procedures they would advocate for in order to "actively promote" this population growth - and further detail why these actions would be so vital.

MessageThe PBV did see the conservative's points during the time of this debate. Now, however, the PBV sees a nation crisis and threat to allow the population to further recede below 200 million.
