Bill: Discipline Back Into Schools Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3100

Description[?]:

I think corporal punishment is a great idea, this will return discipline back into schools by teaching the really bad kids a lesson. Usually if they just get detentions it goes in one ear and out the other, but with corporal punishment such as cane they will be deterred and scared into not re offending again

OOC In the UK we had corporal punishment up until 1987 and up until 1987 students generally respected each other, listened to their teachers and it was good all round. But since it was abolished, from statistics crime figures amongst youths have gone up considerably, in schools pupil behaviour has declined and it is shocking how some pupils treat their teachers and headmasters. That is another reason why I really envy my parents generation, I really wish I was born the 50's or 60's, it seems everyone back then had common sense, respect and a taste in good music!

MessageIt has been proven that without proper discipline crime rates will go up, the bullies will rule the schools and there will be respect within the schools. If that is what you want, then by all means vote no.

MessageDid you not read my OOC comment? Ever since corporal punishment was abolished British schools in 1987, crime rates amongst youths have gone up considerably as it would be if discipline is taken out of schools, then they will feel that they can do what they want, when they want and how they want! So what you are saying is it is acceptable for a pupil to be rude to a teacher or headmaster, even abuse them verbally or physically and the worst teachers can do is tell them to sod off to another school so they can do some damage there!

MessageOk so I say shut up to a teacher, and he/she gets to hit me with a cane? Umm no.

You are saying it's acceptable to hit childrien I understand a parent spanking their kid but a teacher has no right at all to hit a kid espicelly with a CANE!!! It is child abuse we will not allow it.

MessagePerhaps, as a compromise, allow each school to set their discipline level. This would allow the parent to know what type of school their child is going to and could change where their child is to attend if it is not to their liking.

However, we do agree with the Labour, we are shocked ourselves. We will support the bill in it's current state, though we would push for the alternative we gave.

MessageCDP, no need to, we both have the numbers to get this one through, thank you for your support.

PP: Yes if you say shut up to a teacher they have every right to hit you, you have no right to be saying shut up to a teacher! it is perfectly acceptable for teachers to do what they have to do in order to get discipline, detentions.and warnings just go in one ear and out the other.

OOC: This is a real thing that happened to me. Back when I was in year 6 aged 10, in Italian class there was this real wanker in my class and one day he wasn't listening in class and the Italian teacher told him to go to the headmaster's office but he said to him "Vaffanculo" which is Italian for fuck off. Then the teacher told him to come to him and he came to him and slapped him on the face! Luckily he got expelled but if this was the 60's the teacher would've belted the shit out of him and that is what he deserves a real belting to set him straight.

MessageAbsolutely not! This is insane! This is regression! Striking a kid will only make him more angry, and afraid, rebelious, and everything else you can think of.
Things can't be taught as black and white, good and bad, because that's just not how the world works. Words will make a student think for himself, but striking will enforce other's ideas on him.

What the Labour Party is proposing, and the Christian Democratic Party supports, is installing fear and anger on the hearts of our youth instead of educating them properly. Perhaps they do not know that this is most reactionary, and that is the basis for oppression. Perhaps they don't even know it's how the fascists thought school should be.
