Bill: Ratification of the Union of Capitalist Nations
Details
Submitted by[?]: Partij van de Toekomst
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes for the ratification of a treaty. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3102
Description[?]:
This bill asks for the ratification of the Union of Capitalist Nations. If this treaty is ratified, it becomes binding and will define national law. The Conservative Government believes that Vanuku, in her attempts to further herself on the international stage, needs to align itself with like-minded governments the world over. We feel that the Union of Capitalist Nations most closely aligns itself to our glorious nation. We accept that not all parties within Vanuku support the fully fledged unregulated capitalism purported by the Vanuku Conservatieven, however we believe that this treaty still maintains room for a more centrist system while only preventing the most hideous aspects of socialism and communism. |

Message | The PBV opposes the ratification of this treaty. This treaty unjustly limits the sovereignty of Vanuku's government and the power of the people. It binds our nation to a set tenant that unduly restricts the ability of the Nationale Assemblee to create and amend laws. Further, this restricts the openness and universality of our democracy: if the people elect a socialist government, a socialist government must be allowed to govern and implement their policy, regardless of how different and against the Conservative ideology it is. |

Message | The conservative Government would argue that ratifying this treaty in no way prevents a socialist government from achieving their goals, it would simply put an extra check on the system to delay their ability to make such a radical revolution within Vanuku. We would not be able to prevent a future socialist government from overturning this treaty should they so desire and have adequate numbers to do so. Further, we feel it important to use this period of relative stability in Vanuku to strengthen ties with fellow like-minded nations. We will grant time for the PBV to respond to our comments before proceeding to vote. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
