MessageCharter schools, particularly charter schools with specific focuses are strong institutions in developing knowledge and citizenship in those who attend, and are extremely effective in developing innovation in education in the method of teaching, technology, curriculum, et cetera. At this point in time, developing and fostering an innovative education system is crucial to improving the economic growth and competitiveness of Vanuku by educating better skilled and professional workers.

Regulation of higher education fits into this. By regulating higher education, we are ensuring that students at these institutions are receiving a high quality education that is credible and competitive with the international economy.

MessageThe Conservatives believe institutions can only be effectively run when they are fully independent of government control and regulation. As such, we oppose the establishment of an institution that is funded by the government as it leaves itself open to the same inefficiencies as a fully-fledged public education system.

Similarly, by regulating a private, independent institution, we would be limiting the ability of such institutions to satisfy demand. A higher education institution will only teach to the calibre which is demanded of them by the people. If a private university exists and teaches of a low calibre and provides a worthless certificate to its students, you would imagine it wouldn't get much business and as such would be forced to change its ways. It's the simple laws of supply and demand.
