Bill: National Motto Fixation

Voting deadline: October 3105
Description[?]:
The national motto, I do not know who came up with it but it is an embarrassment for the world stage as the translation is wrong. OOC: As you know Italian is rooted from Latin and I studied Italian for most of my school time for about 10 years and just by looking at it without knowing much Latin I know that the translation is totally wrong. First of all, "peace at home" it says in Latin is "pax at focus" that is wrong. In Italian foculare means fireplace and you can see the connection between focus and foculare and there is no "at" in Italian and most likely not in Latin. In Italian peace at home would be Pace a casa it would be something similar in Latin I'm sure. Now to "peace in the world" it says "pax in terra" In Italian terra means soil or earth not world, world is mondo and that is probably similar in Latin and of course there is no "in" in Italian. So in Italian peace in the world would be "pace nel mondo". So yeah, just by looking at that motto you can tell that it is totally wrong and whoever came up with that is a blithering idiot. What do you think of the new motto, it is simple, sensible and doesn't have stupid translations. It is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi, very meaningful and more meaningful than our current one. |
