| Prisons need to prepare people for living on the outside again once they are released. Paying them a small wage would increase their motivation, as well as allowing them to raise funds which could be used to support their families, save up for their futures and compensate their victims. Likewise, education programmes should increase their confidence and build up their skills base. |
