Bill: Budget proposal of March 3114

Details

Submitted by[?]: .

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3115

Description[?]:

We are loathe to propose these cuts. The problem, as others may have noticed, is that the budget deficit is getting larger and larger, and the government already constitutes over 55% of GDP. Given this, we are reluctant to increase taxation any further, and must very painfully come to terms with the fact that serious cuts in public expenditure are necessary. Given that health and education make up so much of our spending, it is inevitable that those key areas are going to have to take the brunt of this.

MessageMr Speaker,

As Finance Minister I too take absolutely no pleasure in delivering this budget to the house, but it is necessary. Until we get our deficit under control and until we know - through the fairer taxes the Volkspartei promised - how much money we actually have to deal with, at which point our budget can be determined and we can balance our books once and for all.

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI).
