Message | We believe that these standards should not be too restrictive, however we believe that television advertising should conform to the same standards as television programmes in the matter of obscenity. Poster advertising in public places should be subject to the same standards as individuals in public places. We also believe that advertising should not be used to defame rival products, or make untrue or exaggerated claims about the product being sold. |

Date | 14:38:20, November 21, 2005 CET | From | AM Radical Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Advertising Standards Bill |
Message | We believe that current laws on obscenity, libel, and slander are sufficient protections, and this leads down a road or allowing the government to decide what the people should see and hear. Information wants to be free, and we need to help it stay that way! |
Date | 18:33:51, November 21, 2005 CET | From | Right Wing Liberals Party | To | Debating the Advertising Standards Bill |
Message | Wait so all you that said no think there should be no standards? |
Date | 18:50:12, November 21, 2005 CET | From | AM Radical Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Advertising Standards Bill |
Message | No, just that the current laws on obscenity, libel, and slander are sufficient and we do not need additional restrictions. We fear that this could lead to censorship of advertising for products or services not liked by the government. |
