MessageArticle 2 needs to be discussed. The DSPB supports requiring local governments to each have 10% and the national government 5% of the voting shares of the company.

MessageWhy should we hand over control over our nation's power system, housing, public works and transport to concentrations of private power? Why should businesses be allowed to make a profit on what are essential resources and services for all of our nation's citizens?

We also question the merit of granting a private company a monopoly on power generation. Historically, such monopolies have engaged in exploitative practices without any reasonable regulation in place. How would such abuses be prevented under this plan?

MessageThe private companies would provide the utmost flexibility in management and would increase opportunities for investment. Keep in mind that the private companies would still be answerable to the government. The privatisation of certain services would also allow for foreign companies to enter the market and to introduce new technologies which may have been less attainable without their interest in their investment.

The private company would not control power generation, only power distribution. We were planning on adding requirements for government control over the company before putting the bill to a vote.

MessageWe disagree with articles 2 and 3, but support the rest of the bill. However, we are not sure if it is wise to so rapidly privatize a large part of our infrastructure.

MessageThe DSPB would support a compromise on articles 2 and 3. We have an advisory council of experts in privatisation and nationalisation who have ensured us that this level of privatisation is usually not dangerous.

Random fact: There are two countries based on Egypt in the game. Cobura is based on modern Egypt with a retro twist, while Hawu Mumenhes is based on Ancient Egypt with a modernist twist.

Random quote: "Erotic politicians, that's what we are. We're interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos and activity that appears to have no meaning." Jim Morrison
