Mr Speaker, this is the first unveiling of my higher education reform. I believe in abolishing the remaining public owned univeristies, colleges and other higher educational institutions. I believe that the state size will once again be drastically reduced as HCP policy intends it to be. The state will save a fortune on financing these institutions and will again save the taxpayers money.

Mr Speaker, the students themselves will not be affected under the proposed changes. They will pay whatever the private company who owns the institution demands - yes. But market competition will drive down these prices to as low as possible and the students will still operate under the system of student loans from the government to be repaid once they are in employment.

Mr Speaker, this is a more than workable situation and one i believe will benefit the entire Hutorian populace - not just our young people currently in higher education.

Mr Speaker, what the government is proposing is completely unacceptable. Education prices never go down, prices will increase, as there are enough wealthy families to pay their way through. This will only lead to a devaluation of our higher education system. Admission to university should be based on merit and talent, not on wealth.
We will end up making a mockery of our education system by having a class of certified rich, but not necessarily talented graduates. Lower income families will undoubtedly be put off from applying due to higher fee's.
Mr Speaker, there is also the question of quality. Under this proposal, the government loses the ability to set standards for higher education. These private institutions will undoubtedly be funded by companies. So will the Prime Minister be applying for Chicken King degree? Or perhaps do a doctorate in Peach MyPod studies?

Mr Speaker, the Prime Minister nor any member of the Cabinet need such a degree. Perhaps the member opposite might as we dont see a future in government for him - not with our party winning election after election!

Mr Speaker, on the issue....this fabricated issue composed by the Liberal Democrats. There are no barriers for working class students. No matter what the fee for a course in a higher education institution the government will provide loans to be repaid that cover the fee. If the law was to pay the fee out of your own pocket then yes....there would obviously be an equality issue but that is not the current law! The member opposite clearly has no idea of how the education system actually works!

Mr Speaker, there is no mechanism in place to detter working class Hutorian students. The opposition is simply scare-mongering to try and win a few votes. I am quite frankly disgusted by this and i hope the people of Hutori are as well.

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost.
