Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2145

Description[?]:

Baltusia's people should not be froced to serve in the military. If the People so coose to defend their country then it is up to them and them alone. For the government should not be able to make people "Voluntolds" for it would be surpressing their rights as a free and responible person.

Message"can be required in times of war". If Baltusia was being invaded, would you not want a larger military? Opposed.

MessageWhat I am opposed to is the constant peddling by some parties of military tactics and security.

ISP - I'm puzzled why you are in favour of forcing people to work for their country in this way, being tools of the state, if you will. Surely it would be more productive to build up Baltusia so people believe it is worth defending, instead of making them so such service, often against their will?

MessageThe only situation this would ever be enforced is a situation of war, as the bill state. And even then, it isn't definitely enforced. It is only avalible to the state. I see this as a precaution we should take.

MessageIndeed, I agree with the ISP. If a sovereign military force has landed in Baltusia, there is something seriously wrong in the area (ie, several of our neighbours have had the crap kicked out of them) and we need the maximum firepower possible. If we're looking at an offshore war (very, very unlikely but possible), then the logistics of moving a large number of conscripts would quickly defeat the feasbility of such an action.

MessageMy conservative principles prefer a volenteer force. i do believe there should be some form of military or civilian service, especially if the government is fitting the bill for higher education.(also my party is loosely based on Republic Rome, and I have no problem with long term enlistments). However in times of war a draft may be needed so I must vote no on this one. I do sympathise with you Neo Exsudo.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
