Bill: End Unfair Religious Recruitment
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Legend Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3128
Description[?]:
The main reason for this is to end evangelism. Missionaries go to countries assuming because they do not have a stock market or a shopping mall or do not wear the same clothes they are primitive beasts. Many of these 'tribes' already have an established faith system and in their arrogance and ignorance these foreign religions barge in to 'help' them assuming they're right. The people often join the religion out of a sense of debt or because they do not have a fully informed decision. This harms not only the people's culture but also international relations. We want to make two things clear: 1) We actively encourage charity work. If a religious person wants to go to another country to help that's great as long as they keep religion out of it. 2) This is not about the actual religions. They still have absolute freedom within the religion to do anything they want it's only evangelism we wish to prohibit in order to protect foreign cultures and our own nation. |

Message | Sometimes free speech must be limited to protect free thought. As i said: religions still have absolute freedom within themselves and any individual who wants to join of their own free will is very welcome to. All this proposal means is that we will not stand back and let religions enter foreign countries and destroy beliefs and governments and lives just because they believe they are right. Who's to say who's right. Nor will we allow religions to prey on the weak within our great nation. We strongly believe in free speech and freedom of expression but we recognise that too much can be harmful and will go to any extent to protect our people. |

Message | People are not being forced into anything the weak if not taken advantage of by something calling itself a religion can just as easily ruin their lives in any other fashion the only thing this legislation does is limit a groups ability to spread their message. The proper way to fight people being taken advantage of is through proper education not cattle prodding people away from what you dislike. |

Message | Yes, education should have our full backing and can greatly advance our society but it does not end there! There will always be those, despite any amount of education, who are not fully able to form their own opinions or stand up for them and these religions will use that to their advantage. To be fair, this does not apply so much to our own country. This is mostly about missionaries. They rip apart less-developed countries all in the name of God. They destroy cultures and traditions by assuming they 'need' their help. We are not 'cattle prodding' anyone- everyone still has freedom of association, as i have made clear. These religions make people feel bad, look stupid and so on to crush them and recruit them. Of course not officially but it does happen. This is unfair mental torture and we will take measures to prevent it. |

Message | Where does one draw the line in making restrictions to protect freedom of thought? Besides, the government already hounds dangerous cults. |

Message | A cult, by definition, is just a small religion. Religions can be just as dangerous the only difference is that they have more members. We know where to draw the line by making the human decision of right and wrong and act on it to stop unfairness. |
