Message | Rt Hon Viscount Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, the Hutorian Conservatives oppose this Bill on the grounds that the state should not be handing out money to those who refuse to work for a living. This Bill encourages lazyness and this Bill is in line with the Lib Dems intent to destroy the idea of working for a living. |

Message | Rt Hon George Norton MP, Prime Minister. Mr Speaker, what about people who cannot get a job because they were born into the system set up by the HCP where education was based on a postcode lottery? We cannot punish people for the mistakes of a previous government. |

Message | Rt Hon Viscount Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, we established a "postcode lottery". We established a system where people could go to any school they wanted as long as they paid the fees. However under the Lib Dem government we have moved towards a state operated system where people just go to their local school unless they can afford a top-class private school. Now the Lib Dems have implemented their postcode lottery where children's schools are chosen because of geographical location. Mr Speaker, the Prime Minister owes the House an apology for the blatant lie in his previous statement. |

Message | Rt Hon George Norton MP, Prime Minister. Mr Speaker, I will not be apologising. The HCP established a system of schools where only the rich could afford to go to the best schools in the wealthiest areas. Does the Rt Honourable Gentleman truly thing that low income families could afford to send their children to the best schools? Mr Speaker, what this Government has done is establish a fair system, where each child has the same access to education regardless of income, background and the area they live in. |
