Message | Rt Hon Viscount Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, i believe local governments should be given specific powers that they are in a better position to deal with than the national government. As we know this national government - based in Bekenial - should deal with the major issues this country is facing. Issues of military, civil liberties, the economy and religion should be dealt with in this Parliament. Issues of animals, ecology, museums and libraries etc. should be dealt with local governments. Mr Speaker, local people vote for local governments and these local administrations are perfectly capable of making decisions based upon the mandate they recieve. I believe that we give local people what they want and re-instate powers to local governments where appropriate. |

Message | Rt Hon George Norton MP, Prime Minister, Mr Speaker, we all remember when the HCP were in Government, shirking as many responsibilities as possible. Mr Speaker, this is a Government that takes responsibility for all aspects of governing, that is what we are elected for. |

Message | Rt Hon Viscount Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, an overbearing state is not governing. It is simply a consolidation of power based here in Bekenial. We also were wondering since the Prime Minister has weighed in on this debate....why the Labour Party - with 126 seats permit the Lib Dem Leader with 82 seats to remain as PM. Surely the Labour Leader should be the Prime Minister? Mr Speaker, i wouldnt call it shirking responsibilities as well. I would say it is giving the decision to those best placed to make it. It seems the PM is just incapable of giving powers to local people. |

Random fact: Don't vote yes on a cabinet coalition that doesn't give you the power that you deserve. |
Random quote: "No one today can afford to be innocent, or indulge himself in ignorance of contemporary governments, politics and social orders. The national polities of the modern world maintain their existence by deliberately fostered craving and fear: monstrous protection rackets. The 'free world' has become economically dependent on a fantastic system of stimulation of greed which cannot be fulfilled, sexual desire which cannot be satiated and hatred which has no outlet except against oneself, the persons one is supposed to love, or the revolutionary aspirations of pitiful, poverty-stricken marginal societies like Cuba or Vietnam. The conditions of the Cold War have turned all modern societies - communist included - into vicious distorters of man's true potential." - Gary Snyder |
