Bill: Salary Cap Liberalization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Party (LL)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3137
Description[?]:
We thought we'd try again on this one. Whereas, the 80% tax rate leads to almost a salary cap, and Whereas, we would like the revenue from people earning more than that rate, and Whereas, taxing the rich heavily is something we can agree with but a hard cap on how rich one can become is something we cannot, We propose to devolve the salary cap policy to local governments, recognizing that local governments are likely to raise or eliminate it in most cases so as to encourage businesses and wealthy people to reside there (and pay their taxes in addition to federal taxes). |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's stance on a salary cap.
Old value:: There is a national maximum wage but local governments may enforce stricter salary caps.
Current: The government enforces a salary cap.
Proposed: Local governments decide on salary cap laws.

Message | It is not 'liberalization'. While Bloved Freedom dislikes salary cap, transfering salary cap setting to local government is not solution. This bill distorts normal market process. Business should be set up by comparative advantage, not by salary cap. |

Message | BF, you should note that this bill presents a better situation on salary caps from a libertarian/capitalist view than the one it would replace. There would be localities within Ikradon in which people could choose to live and not have their salaries capped. The vast majority of those subject to the cap would choose to live in those. We are certain you find that far from perfect, but we are surprised that you don't find it an improvement. |
