Bill: Removal of Draft
Details
Submitted by[?]: New Aloria Party (NAP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3148
Description[?]:
Senator Lee asks that the draft be removed from Alorian law stressing that we should not force people to enlist in the military or do civilian service even if during time of the war. He feels that if people are forced to do this then their heart and soul is not in it, and those who are not having their heart and soul into protecting this country are risking their life and the life’s of their squads. Even if during the time of war, Lee is confident that the military strength of Aloria is strong enough to defend its home even in cases of attacks on the nation’s soil, and would not need the draft. Lee is confident in the men and women who enlisted by their own free will. |

Message | No, no, no, no and no. "He feels that if people are forced to do this then their heart and soul is not in it, and those who are not having their heart and soul into protecting this country are risking their life and the life’s of their squads" That is completely false sir. I was conscripted/forced/drafted into the military for 6 months. it was the best 6 months of my life and I am proud at what I achieved serving Germany for those 6 months. My heart and soul was in it 100% and so was everybody else's who was conscripted. Now, that I have had that training, if Germany ever gets invaded me and most of the population will know what to do and how to defend ourselves. |

Message | In the American side of things, one would remember the Vietnam War. The US went into a war and most, if not all, young men were forced to serve the military in the said war through the draft. In the end, Americans were disenchanted with the war and eventually called for a stop to American involvement in it. If I'm not mistaken, that also ended the draft procedure in the US. |

Message | Here, in Germany the government ended it this year but only to save money. If if we didn't have to bail out other European countries like Greece, Portugal and Ireland then we would still have it. But luckily I did it before they ended it. But, we are in times of peace, it is just for training and when a war happens most can sign up to the military. Like, here I read that 20 million Germans are already fit for military service, so when a major war occurs we already have an advantage due to our conscription. |

Message | Yes, and when the people who served in vietnam who were drafted came back to a country that hated them, spat on them, and disrespected them and many suffered mental illness and etc. The ones who were drafted who were not able to handle the stress and pressure of war. |

Message | And if I remember correctly, some of those young soldiers were not even well-trained or well-equipped to handle the pressures of war. They had to be drafted immediately because of the necessity. |

Message | Thats strange. i've heard all the stories of Vietnam Veterans being ruined for life but then when you look at my grandfather who was also conscripted into the Wehrmacht and fought at Stalingrad with the famous 6th army. He was a prisoner of war in a Soviet camp and they were brutal, more brutal than anything in Vietnam but when he came out he was fine and still is fine today but doesn't talk about Stalingrad much. |
