Bill: Increased Retirement Age Act of 3148

Details

Submitted by[?]: Genuine Progress Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3150

Description[?]:

This bill aims to increase the retirement age from 65 to 70. This shall apply to all forms of employment, except for elective posts in the government, such as President and MPs.

We believe that the right time for our elderly workers to enjoy their work-free life should be at 70. Sixty-five is still a relatively young age, and most workers in this age still show signs of capability to work. Also, recent medical advancement has allowed individuals to increase one's life expectancy and, as such, make them capable of working for a few more years.

Elective government posts are exempted from this act in order to give way to the people's constitutional right to hold to office and to play an active role in shaping their government.

SUBJECT: PROPOSAL TO INCRESSE RETIREMENT AGE

“Members of the Senate, I have been asked by Senator Mike Lee of Sildar to prepare this report for you about the increasing the retirement age from 65, to possibly 70. I have done research on this when I was appointed to this position as other Senator’s from the People’s Party had thought about proposing this legislation. This report will only comment on from a view of a medical stand point if senior citizens can still work nothing else.

Because of our technology advancements in our medical care system we have been able to cure many diseases senior citizens suffer from that prevent them from doing day to day activities including going to work. However they still suffer from loss of bone marrow and the weaking of their bones and muscles, because of the age they are at. In a study two years ago, most of the population who reach 68 suffer from massive headaches, loss of energy and are not able to work full days because of the energy loss and the pain they suffer from work.

In recent months, we have allowed several new drugs intended for senior citizens to help their bones stopping becoming weaker at such a fast pace and to restore loss bone marrow, and help reduce fatigue.

From the results of the study, and the new medicine been given out, I herby professionally recommended that the age not be raised to seventy due to the fact many have a hard time doing a full day work and could result in injury. However, life expantcy has increased over the years and I believe that the age could be raised to 68 but not any higher until further review and study has been made as a medical stand point on this issue. I am able to answer any questions, you may have on this issue, however please note I will not speculate on this issue in forms of economics, or any other matter then a medical/ health issue stand point only.

MessageAnd don't forget life expectancy. Which in developed nations is around 80, so if they retire at 70, they only have 10 years to enjoy themselves. On average that is.
