MessageMr. Speaker,

We trust that all decent, socially conservative parties will have no objection to the bill as outlined above.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

We strongly support articles 2 and 3 but oppose article 1. As much as we believe that pornography is disgusting and immoral, we also believe that the government has no business telling adult subjects of His Majesty what they can and cannot do in such an intimate fashion. If a man or a woman wishes to view pornography in the privacy of their own home, while it is morally disgusting, it would be an utter waste of time to send the Military Police or the Constabulary to arrest them and in effect, there would be a policy of tolerance because enforcement is simply impossible. While we understand the DLP's noble goal, we must ask them to delete said article, because if they pass it, we would have a law that we would not enforce, which is in and of itself immoral. We can call on the Secretary of State for Security to testify if that would convince the DLP.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We appreciate the sentiments as outlined by the CIL, and we have amended the bill accordingly, substituting Article 1 with what we feel is a reasonable alternative. We await to hear the response of members to this change.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

We believe article 1 has been amended to an acceptable alternative and we can now give our full support to this bill. We would like to add as well that we are sure the Church approves of these measures.

I yield.
