Message | Rt Hon Duke Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, i believe the status quo is a bit unreasonable. I think that there needs to be a targeting of child benefit rather than the state simply giving it away to every family. In the Lib Dems interests of social fairness do they think its fair that i recieve child benefit because of my four children? I would happily give it up due to my MP's salary and my previous salary as Prime Minister and i do alright as far as money goes. Mr Speaker, there defiantly needs to be a re-examination of the issue and i believe that this will fit into all parties beliefs on the issue - and for once, perhaps the first time ever - we could have a proper all party consensus on an issue. |

Message | Rt Hon Hector James MP, Prime Minister. Mr Speaker, the Leader of the Opposition could give up the benefit if he doesn't want it. In fact I encourage people to do so if they can afford not to have it. I will support the proposal if there is genuine cross-party consensus on this. |

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining. |
Random quote: "I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers." - Martin Luther King Jr. |
