Message | Rt Hon Duke Townsend MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, i believe the status quo is quite unreasonable and an invasion of the state into peoples homes. I must make it clear however that i am not saying the Lib Dems are invading the private lives of our citizens and i am unsure as to who introduced the status quo but i believe it is time for a change in this law. Mr Speaker, i believe the state should not be interfering in areas that do not concern it. Quite clearly the state has no business in knowing if people have pets or not. The database that keeps a list is a clear waste of money that could be used by local governments to maintain libraries, museums etc. and i believe that money would be far better off invested in things people use in their local area. Mr Speaker, the status quo needs to change and i hope all parties in the House will stand for basic privacy for Hutorian citizens and their right for the state not to invade their homes through bureaucracy like this. |

Message | Hon Winston Hadley, Leader of PCP Mr Speaker, Our animals need to be protected and the only way that state can do it it's through the register, i don't get why HCP is against this law, there isn't any political problem to protect the animals, we ask HCP to retire this bill. |

Message | Rt Hon Hector James MP, Prime Minister, Mr Speaker, whilst I see merit in what the Leader of the Opposition has proposed, I must vote against this. The reason we have registration of animals is so that we are able to return them to their owners if lost. Also, we must consider that local governments have the right to check up on the conditions these animals are kept in, and they also keep an eye on dangerous animals. |
