Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Unity Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3341
Description[?]:
It is of the opinion of the Likaton Unity Party that the following laws must be ammended to allow the National Police Force to continue to safely guard the citizens of Likatonia from threats, whether foreign or domestic. Whereas The court system should be uniformed across all of Likatonia to allow for Federal Courts to rule on all matters. This will allow for a displacement of judges who may vary from region to region, and will allow the Federal Justice system to be uniform in its judgements. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We are of a divided mind as to the first article, as we generally believe that all government action should occur at the lowest possible level; but are willing to consider debate to the contrary. As to the second, however, we cannot consider having no restrictions on police action. While we believe that most police are honorable, granting unlimited power to them runs afoul of Lord Acton's statement on absolute power. |
Date | 14:00:13, July 26, 2012 CET | From | Likaton Unity Party | To | Debating the LUP - Police Act - 3199 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, We can assure you that police will still have various oversight bodies who canr reprimand police forces when they step out of line. However, to protect this great nation from criminal activity, and indeed terrorist threats, we must have an effective police branch not restrained in their powers of arrest. Charges must still be made within 24 hours of the arrest or the prison is let free. So there is no worry about police arresting unsuspecting and innocent civilians for long periods of time. Our courts system will retain the innocent from the guilty as the police will be able to effectively manage and control criminal activity. |
