Bill: DEPF - POWs in Meria

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Unity Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3371

Description[?]:

Honorable Members of the Dorus.

It has recently come to light that the former LUP and the former President Jospeh Cliffen, with the former Minister of Defence Hanz Grafman, agreed to hold Prisoners of War from the Jakanian Civil War here in Likatonia. No release from these former government officials were given to the population, and it seems only a small amount of LAF even knew.

As the National and Special Ops Police Force, we, the Dignitatis Exercitui Police Force, are asking for the opinion of the fellow parties in the Federal Republic of Likatonia on what should be done with these POWs, now that the Jakanian Republicans have retreated and the war is over.

Also held, are approxamitely 400 AAPK Militants from Kafuristan, who have killed hundreds of not only Likatonian soldiers, but also our citizens and diplomats. What should be done with these men as well?

MessageIt is the opinion of the RLP that any of these who are legitimate POW's, that is members of a recognized combatant force, should be immediatly released. Any who were illegal combatants should be transfered to the custody of the capturing power, unless they are suspected of crimes within Likatonia as well. Should this be the case, a full investigation and trials , if applicable, should occur.

MessageMr. Speaker,

It is of the opinion of the DEP that the POWs we currently have in Meria conspired to and committed several crimes of Likatonian law, particularly in adding the attacks on Likatonian embassies, an extension of Likatonian soil. However, we are in agreement to release the 159 Jakanian-born monarchists who were handed over to Likatonian Armed Forces by the Republican Forces of Jakania. These soldiers were worthy combattants and deserve to be sent home.

However, that leaves approxamitely 241 soldiers, generals and militants who are of Indralan or Kafuri citzenship and committed horrendous acts against the Likatonian civilians and staff at our embassies abroad. We would like to push for the Peace and Justice Court to place charges against these men. We will begin to hold the Court as soon as possible.
