Message | There should be a graded system of taxation for corporations but 5% is far too low for a corporation to pay given its legal standing. |

Message | Why distinguish between incomes in the first place? Our government suggests a universal 5% tax on income since percentage means the higher the income, higher the contribution. A similar measure on income tax did two things: cut taxes for a large majority of citizens and actually boost revenue by more than 41 billion. This could serve an equal advantage in freeing up savings for companies to re-invest and pass on to the consumer. |

Message | Not to mention making our businesses more competitive on an international scale. |

Message | But what effect did that similar move have on the people on the bottom who likely had there tax bill raised considerably. 5% of very little is a lot more than 5% of a huge amount when you are trying to make ends meet. Corporation which make a profit have a duty through taxes to the citizens of the state where they operate, they make great benefits from infrastructure, education, healthcare etc which taxes pay for. In RL 5% would be one of the lowest corporation taxes in the world. |

Message | Our ministry disagrees: the income tax plan did raise the lower bracket of 10,000 BEL from 1% to 5% but this amounts to a difference of just 400 BEL annually. When you consider our government's ever-increasing services to help low-income Beluzians, a low 400 BEL increase on 10,000 BEL per annum isn't a death sentence. We advocate basic economic theory: a low corporate tax will make our country more attractive to business, improve our economy, create a huge number of jobs and pass savings on to Beluzian consumers. |
